Weekend in

After a year of listening to how wonderful this "state" is that my bestest moved to I decided that I needed to see it for myself.
Chels called and told me that tickets were wicked cheap so we decided to pounce at the opportunity. Early in the AM on May 25 I boarded the plane and enjoyed the snappy 2hour and 45 minute flight to Portland.
*note: I curled up on a WHOLE row of seats in row 23 on the plane and freaking slept the entire flight here. It was buckets*

When I got into Portland we drove over to visit my one and only room mate Erin. (She stayed with me over the few days of the Chipps fandango) I met Captain McBunBun. That's right her little bunny, and checked out her crib.
We went to Hot Lips for lunch. Ladies we are talking about 18 inch breadsticks. WOW. It's enough carbs to fill in a weeks worth but completely bananas.
Afterward we drove around and the Chipps showed me some of the highlights of the city. Beautiful city parks, gorgeous architecture, and amazing bridges! It was all on the ride back to their quaint appartment in Keizer.

Chels and I hung out all day on Memorial day. We went to Silverton and entered Funky town and left Funky town in 3 step. We entered China town and left China town in 7 steps. It was amazing. Then we went to Terra Gardens and saw where Trevor works. It is beautiful. The nursery has all amazing blooms and fountains most of which Trevor created. I was impressed and inspired to rock out my back yard post haste.

We went to Woodburn for lunch and got our grub on at Elmer's. Totally local and toally awesome. Woodburn in the Oregon equivalent of the outlets in Anthem. We walked and walked through every store there. Outside of one bathing suit, I didn't buy a thing. For those of you who know me well, THAT should be impressive!

We capped off the evening with a BBQ at Trevor's folks house. The snowball tree is a personal favorite.

Tuesday morning was awesome. After my daily morning run, which I might add is AWESOME due to the overcast skies and the cows in the field, we jumped in the car to spend the day at the coast. We started off driving over to Newport (which I thought was in California, who knew *shoulder shrug*). We went to some crazy ass street with gnarly bright color and took ridonkulous pictures. Then we went over the museum and Chelsi grew a pair and managed to walk through the shark exhibit and only mildly freaked out which is a HUGE accomplishment.

After that we drove to Lincoln City. We stopped in a surfshop, again I excersided comsumer restraint, and then headed over to the beach. The vistas in Oregon are breathtaking. The contrast between the sparkling ocean and the vivid green of the trees, throw in the gray sky and it is stunning. It is enough to inspire anyone to think about life and what is out there. Lunch was at Mo's and I had the nummiest grilled cheese samich.

After we were full of tasty bluff resturant goodness we had one more stop in Pacific city.We took the truck on the beach and drove it's length taking wicked awesome pictures. Trevor was spinning donuts in the sand and it was basically a total blast!!!So here's the creme de la creme of the dia. Trevor and I trecked a MONSTER of a sand doon. It was like 1,200 feet, ok ok, sit like 200 feet but it was steep, uphill, sandy, and AMAZING!!! The view from the top was ocean as far as you could see and completely satisfying. I was beside myself with angst that I left my camera in the car.

The only way to get down is to JUMP. When you get running down hill, the decline to velocity ratio is enough for take off. When you jump you freaking catch air and land in a big sandy cannon ball. It was a BLAST.After getting to the bottom of the behemoth we were completely content with our accomplishment and Trevor and I proceded to dump gallons of sand out of our shoes.
